Male streamer TFT was arrested
Recently, on October 8, Hanoi City Police announced the arrest and investigation of D.M. Cuong, 27 years old, when he livestreamed matches of the League of Legends game, specifically the game mode Arena of Truth. Place the link below for viewers to participate in betting. In addition to D.M. Cuong, 11 more subjects (including 7 subjects in Hanoi; 3 subjects in Dong Nai; 1 subject in Binh Phuoc) were also arrested for investigation. Through investigation documents, the authorities prosecuted the case and prosecuted defendant Dang Manh Cuong for organizing gambling. If convicted, Cuong and his accomplices will be charged with the crime of Gambling and Organizing gambling or racketeering according to Articles 321 and 322 of the Penal Code.
Worth mentioning, D.M.Cuong is not exactly a strange name to the TFT community. This person has competed in TFT tournaments in the region. According to authorities, Cuong set up a YouTube channel and livestream on this platform, and also organized betting through the matches. Viewers will transfer money to the accounts of the leaders, the content related to the player's rank in that game (13 is from 1st – 3rd place, 48 is from 4th – 8th place). The odds and amount of money the gambler receives will be shared by Cuong's side.
According to information from the authorities, from May 14 until now, the total amount of money transferred and withdrawn by subjects to participate in gambling is about 70 billion VND, with about 65,000 betting transactions. (of about 1000 participants). In addition, the amount of money that subjects benefit from organizing gambling is up to billions of dong. Some other famous figures of the TFT village competed to delete the channel
On the day D.M.Cuong was arrested, some famous TFT players of the Vietnamese TFT community also made unexpected moves. Accordingly, names like N.6.M, or DVQ have also deleted the latest clips on their channels and “remain motionless”. These players have all built names in the TFT village. N.6.M even competed in the regional qualifying tournament for the World Championship equivalent of the TFT game mode.
Worth mentioning, at that time, N.6.M was also accused of hanging a betting logo on the stream channel and he was banned from competing for 1 year by Riot. The incident at that time also caused fierce controversy in the Vietnamese League of Legends community in general and TFT in particular.
It is unclear who will be involved in this incident, but this could be a very strong blow to Vietnamese Esports, especially the TFT community. Because the Vietnamese TFT community is still very young, and if something serious happens, it will easily affect Vietnamese TFT players later, especially when Riot may also get involved.
