As one of the most popular Shonen series of the modern generation, My Hero Academy has its fair share of epic battles. These battles can stand out for a variety of reasons, from their amazing choreography to the sentiments behind them. But the best of them combines both of these aspects into a cohesive whole.
This is a testament to the great storytelling skills of mangaka Kohei Horikoshi. My Hero Academia has always shown its characters to grow in the use and mastery of their powers, preventing its battles from becoming stale on a technical level. With stakes increasing throughout the series culminating in the manga’s explosive and battle-filled final war arc, it’s extremely important to keep the series interesting and fresh. It also produces some of the best fights in any Shonen series, and here are ten of the best fights in My Hero Academia.
10 Deku vs Muscle
In the Jungle Training Camp section, the Criminal Alliance attacks UA students while they are training in the wilderness. One of the strongest villains in attack is Muscle, whose muscle-based strength makes him an extremely difficult threat to defeat. When Muscular attacks Kota, a child who has lost faith in the Super Heroes, Deku must defeat Muscular to both stop his threat and restore hope to Koda. Their fight was utterly brutal, but Deku ultimately won with an attack with a shocking name: 1,000,000 percent Delaware Detroit Smash, pushing his limits in an epic performance. While it might not be as exciting as the other fights on this list, Deku vs Muscular combines great action and sentiment well enough to deserve a spot on this list.
9 Shigaraki vs Re-Destruction
The My Villain Academia part is a big departure from the series’ usual style, focusing on the Confederacy as the protagonist rather than the UA students. This makes this part have some extremely brutal fights, as its main characters are not afraid to kill their opponents. It also focuses more on Shigaraki, who finally awakens his power potential in the fight against Re-Destro. It’s both epic and terrifying to see Shigaraki win this war knowing that the power he has in it will soon be used against the true heroes of the series. But this unique blend of emotions is what makes it one of My Hero Academia’s best battles.
8 Ochaco vs Bakugo
Ochaco and Bakugo are two of the best supporting characters of My Hero Academia, so their fight will be worth watching. While the stakes behind this fight are neither life nor death, as it happens during a sports festival, Ochaco’s emotional backstory makes it far more important than it actually is. In addition, her clever tactics in battle are a compelling display of her strength, proving she can carry out more important battles in the future. While unfortunately the series didn’t give her as many battles after this point, this doesn’t detract from how exciting the battle between Ochaco and Bakugo is.
7 Shigaraki vs Stars and Stripes
At this point in the series where this war occurs, Shigaraki and its extension All For One are said to be at the height of their power. This is why America’s top hero Star and Stripe has come to Japan to stop them. However, this affects All For One’s plans, as he wants to have Star and Stripe’s powerful New Order Quirk of their own. The stakes of this fight are so high and the strength levels of the boxers are some of the strongest fans have ever seen, which makes it very stressful. Additionally, Star and Stripe’s unique Quirk sets it apart from every other fight in the series. While many fans may be disappointed with how little Star and Stripe have done throughout the entire series, this fight is a great display of her character and easily deserves a spot. position on this list.
6 Deku vs Todoroki
At the beginning of the series, Todoroki is much more distant than he is now, his father’s abuse completely changing his worldview. Seeing this, Deku made it his mission to make Todoroki open and accept all parts of himself by forcing him to use his fire powers in battle. Outside of the character’s emotional elements, the fight itself is amazing, with Deku trying harder than ever to help his friend. The fight became so intense that Cementoss had to step in and break it before anyone was seriously injured. That intensity and the emotions attached to it make it still rank as one of the series’ best fights.
5 Shoto vs Dabi
The final war section has many excellent battles, but this is by far one of the most emotional, the culmination of both Dabi and Shoto’s characters. Dabi is Shoto’s estranged brother, who left the Todoroki family after Endeavor’s mistreatment caused him to push his body beyond its limits. Dabi has been seeking revenge on his family ever since, and it’s only natural that the one to face him in the final fight would be Shoto, whose plot revolves around reuniting his family. The battle was a brutal one and although its ending was pretty spoilt when My Hero Academia later brought Dabi back, it’s still one of the best fights in the series.
4 Deku vs Bakugo
This battle was a major turning point for both Deku and Bakugo as well as the culmination of their relationship up to that point in the series. After bullying Deku for years, Bakugo had to accept the fact that All Might chose Deku as his successor despite ultimately winning the fight. While it may not have the same high mortality rate as other battles in the series, it still turns out to be extremely tense and in the end Deku and Bakugo both matured as characters. This impact is what makes it easily one of the best fights in the series.
3 Effort vs Nomu
After All Might retired as Japan’s No. 1 hero, Endeavor stepped up to achieve the title he had always wanted. But the public doesn’t trust Endeavor’s ability to stop evil. Endeavor’s skills were put to the test when a powerful Nomu attacked him in public. The Nomu are a mighty foe, powerful enough to push Endeavor to its limits. However, Endeavor was able to push itself further than ever to defeat it, winning the public’s trust in a monumental moment that marked the battle as one of the best in the series. ri.
2 Deku vs Class 1-A
After the brutal end of the Mystic Liberation Front War section, Deku left UA and became a vigilante. In this role, Deku felt that relying on others would put them in danger so he fought on his own, pushing himself to the brink of exhaustion to rein in the newly released criminals who were terrorizing them. country. This causes the entire Class 1-A to fight Deku to prove to him that they are strong enough to fight alongside him. The way they do this is through an emotional struggle to bring him back to UA. While it’s nearly impossible for Deku to fight at full strength, and on a technical level, the fight isn’t as dramatic as others in the series, but the emotional weight of this moment as well as the buildup of it’s throughout the series making it one of the best battles in My Hero Academia.
1 All Possible vs All For One
By this point in the series, both the hero All Might and the villain All For One have been weakened from the height of their powers. But it is because of this that their clash is so compelling. Despite revealing his weakness to the public, All Might never gave up, using the lessons he learned through his relationship with Deku, his protégé, to eventually prevail. , ended his heroic career as a beacon of hope in which he was at his peak. This moment also ignites the fire for the next generation of heroes and villains, representing a major turning point in the saga. This makes this not only the best fight in the series, but arguably the most important.
With My Hero Academia’s manga currently in the middle of Final War, more epic battles are likely to take place before the series comes to an end. But no matter how good these battles are, they won’t detract from the quality of the previous ones. In fact, more epic rematches like All Might and All For One are making these early clashes even more awesome. These stellar battles are a great example of why My Hero Academy considered one of the best modern Shonen series.
