Kodoani.com – TOHO Animation has just released the “final” trailer for the anime's second season The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto), adapted from the light novel series by Natsu Hyūga and Touko Shino. The trailer has revealed the new ending song “Shiawase no Recipe” (Happiness Formula) by singer-songwriter Dai Hirai shows off, and previews some scenes from the sequel.
The second season will premiere on January 10, 2025at 11:00 p.m. JST on the programming block FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT of Nippon TV and was broadcast continuously for two courses. Crunchyroll will stream this episode globally.

Story of The Apothecary Diaries:
Set in an Eastern kingdom, where the Emperor and his concubines live in the back palace (hougong). Maomaoa smart girl who grew up in a small town with a father who worked as an apothecary, was kidnapped and sold into being a palace maid. Even though she tried to hide her sharp intelligence and medical knowledge, Maomao could not fool the powerful eunuch. Genderwho recognized her talent. He assigned Maomao the task of being a maid to a concubine favored by the Emperor, with the main job being… tasting food to detect poison.
The story follows Maomao as she investigates palace mysteries, confronts complex conspiracies, and uses her medical knowledge to solve problems.

The original novel series was first published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2011, and was later adapted into a manga by Nekokurage in Monthly Big Gangan magazine. The first season of the anime debuted in October 2023, aired continuously for two seasons and received high reviews for its beautiful visuals, engaging story, and intelligent, charismatic main character. The second season is expected to continue this success.
