Kodoani.com – The creative team of Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion has just announced a new project that promises to thrill fans. According to information on YouTube channel Pomexgranate on Sunday, Ryukishi07 will launch a completely new manga series titled Koppa Maichiru Sono Koro ni (When the Wood Chips Scatter). The work will be released on Akita Publishing's Young Champion web platform from January 31, with illustrations by Kōichi Tsugi, artist of Cells at Work! Illegal, undertake.
Meanwhile, Higurashi continues to expand with many new manga projects. Kei Natsumi is currently completing the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Iro Tōtoshi-hen manga on Square Enix's Gangan Online site. The series, described as an “answer” to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei, will end with its fourth volume, scheduled for release on February 12. The original visual novel series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was first launched by 07th Expansion in 2002 at Comiket, telling the story of mysterious murders that coincide with an annual festival in a small village. Since then, the series has become one of the most prominent works in the psychological horror genre, with many anime, manga, and graphic novel adaptations.
New projects such as Koppa Maichiru Sono Koro ni and Higurashi's sequels are a clear testament to the franchise's longevity, and continue to attract the attention of a large number of global fans.
