Popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will end its historic run with three surprise theatrical releases, with Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment distributing the final three episodes for the anime's “Infinity Castle” arc on Around the world.
As announced via press release, Crunchyroll has acquired the theatrical rights to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, which will be released in theaters as a trilogy of epic films. The “Infinity Castle” arc serves as the conclusion to the Demon Slayer manga, with the trilogy seeing the anime conclude. A release date has yet to be announced. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle worldwide, excluding select Asian territories including Japan. The decision to adapt Demon Slayer's final episode into a trilogy had a huge impact on fans and the anime industry. It's unclear if the final episode will be released at the same time as Japan, but as seen with Demon Slayer's previous films — Mugen Train, -To the Swordsmith Village- and To the Hashira Training — fans are sure will come to theaters in large numbers. Crunchyroll has its eyes on expanding its movie theater business through Sony's acquisition of the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater chain, and Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll's senior vice president of global commerce, has made the case. about Crunchyroll's future in theaters through comments made at CinemaCon earlier this year.
