The glorious past of the “MSI king”
If T1 (formerly SKT T1) is known as the “king of Worlds” with 5 championships, then LPL also owns its own “MSI king”. Accordingly, RNG is the team with the richest tradition at MSI with 3 championship titles in 2018, 2021 and 2022. RNG's strength at MSI even created an “unprecedented” record. fair” with star Xiaohu. Accordingly, Xiaohu is the only player in the history of League of Legends to win two consecutive international tournaments with two different positions: Top Lane (2021) and Mid Lane (2022).
Not stopping there, RNG was also a formidable force in the LPL and possessed extremely excellent stars. Besides Xiaohu, Uzi is also a superstar who has been with RNG for many years and was once considered a symbol of the LPL region. With such “huge” achievements in the past, it is a pity that RNG has declined so rapidly in the last 2 years and faces a dark future.
The once “King of MSI” is now in danger again
In recent years, RNG's financial situation is said to be extremely dire as they are constantly being accused of unpaid salaries by players in many disciplines, often for long periods of time. Even legendary players who have been with the team for a long time like Uzi and MLXG have also spoken out about the fact that RNG owes them money even though they have long since retired. It all creates an extremely bleak picture for the future of RNG.
Thinking things couldn't get worse for RNG, the new boss of this team surprised fans in a negative way. Specifically, coach KenZhu (who is considered the nucleus in building RNG in the 2025 season) recently revealed that RNG's boss Bai Xing ran away with money. The reason is because this boss has not contacted KenZhu for many weeks to discuss RNG's future plans. This was further reinforced when RNG's female manager also posted on Weibo a status line implying that the boss had “left her child in the market”.
Discussing this incident, LPL's Sohu page did not seem surprised by RNG's decline. They also revealed that RNG has become a “national enemy” in the LPL by regularly using impure tricks and setting unreasonable contract terms to deceive players as well as other teams. As a result, no individual or Esports organization in the LPL wants to help RNG even though this team is at risk of dissolution.
To be fair, the decline of a famous team like RNG is sad for LPL audiences. However, with what this team has done in recent years, the dissolution (if any) of RNG can even be considered a “good omen” for this region. Hopefully, the current talented RNG players like LWX, Ming or even Wei (whose loan contract with BLG ended) will soon free themselves from this team and find a new home in the future.
