Pokémon Horizon Having focused on Riko’s pendant from the beginning and subsequent permanent transformation into the legendary Pokémon Terapagos, the story is entering an exciting new arc. This new story, which picks up where the previous story, titled “Liko and Roy Set Off”, left off, will be called “Terapagos’ Shine”, placing the mysterious and extremely rare Pokémon at the center.
Episode #25 of Pokémon Horizons saw a major confrontation between the Rising Volt Tacklers and the Explorers, as the latter attempted to steal the Terapagos while Liko, Roy, and Friede were visiting Riko’s grandmother. A massive battle broke out, destroying much of the castle they were in, but everyone escaped to the airship, leaving the Adventurers empty-handed.
On the airship, Riko’s grandmother gives her a new goal: to find the “Six Heroes,” Pokémon that once belonged to the legendary ancient Explorer Lucius. Terapagos has some connection to these Pokémon, and unraveling its secrets may require tracking down these friends from its past.
The new arc of Pokémon Horizons combines the stories of Riko and Roy
The announcement came after episode 25 aired in Japan, accompanied by a poster in the shape of Terapagos Terastal, something never before seen in the anime. Since Terapagos is not yet in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games, how it transforms between these forms is unknown, but the anime will likely reveal it first at this rate. Despite being the start of a new season, it doesn’t look like there will be any hiatus between them, with episode #26 still scheduled for next week.
Throughout the first 25 episodes that make up the opening arc, there are two main storylines: the story of Riko and her pendant, and the story of Roy and the black Rayquaza, who escaped from the Ancient Poké Ball of he. The pendant and the Ancient Poké Balls are clearly related in some way, but it’s unclear how. Now, to discover the truth about Terapagos, they will have to collect the remaining Ancient Poké Balls, which finally unite Riko and Roy’s goals into one. Terapagos and its relationship with these Pokémon is now front and center, giving fans an opportunity to learn more about this mysterious Pokémon.
Pokémon Horizons’ focus on story makes it refreshingly different
While the focus on Terapagos is certainly designed to build excitement for the upcoming second part of Scarlet and Violet’s DLC, the story surrounding Terapagos has been quite intriguing so far, tied closely to the legend of world of anime. So far, Pokémon Horizons has done a great job of telling a story with a heavy plot, something that older Pokémon anime often avoided. The official transition to a new phase of the story is an exciting development and episode 25 feels like the climax of the first story arc. Like Riko, Roy and Pokémon Horizon Overall preparing to enter a new era, the series simply cannot launch internationally anytime soon.
