Season 4 of Bungo Stray Dogs begins with a look at Ranpo and Yukichi’s origins, which could set the stage for some interesting interactions.
The following contains spoilers for Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4, Episode 1, “The Lonely Swordsman and the Famous Detective”, currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
Like Season 3 of Bungo Stray Dogs, the recently aired Season 4 premiere began in the past by providing audiences with information about the world of the series prior to the events of Season 1. It’s no surprise that many viewers are eagerly waiting for part 3 of Bungo Stray Dogs. With the return of the entire cast of the show, the season 4 opening episodes can offer an extremely interesting perspective on the story.
The first episode of the new season sees Yukichi meet Ranpo and the two decide to work together. This combination was curious from the start; a master swordsman working with a young investigative sage ripe with abilities. However, what makes this team so appealing in the world of Bungo Stray Dogs is the fact that, technically, neither of them are capable.
Yukichi and Ranpo are a strange couple with a fascinating story
One big attraction of Bungo Stray Dogs is the different characters’ abilities and how they use them. Rarely, if ever, is there a single scene in the show where an incompetent person is present. This fact remains true in Season 4, however, it is seriously breaking the mold. Although Yukichi Fukuzawa has an ability called “All People Are Equal”, according to the story, it may not exist.
The reason for this is that he can adjust the abilities of the people who work for him. Of course, a power like this would be useful when one person runs a company consisting of mostly capable people, but it probably won’t be of much use at the beginning of Season 4 since one is currently working no work with him. any possibility.
Ranpo Edogawa, now only 14 years old, claims to have an ability called “Super inference”. It gives him an amazing level of insight into anything, which he uses to solve cases. The weird thing about Ranpo is that he’s really incapable of anything – he’s incredibly smart. Even more strangely, he doesn’t seem to have any knowledge of the ability. The pairing of All Equals and Super Deductible may seem boring at first, but in practice it can offer some compelling opportunities for storytelling.
Yukichi and Ranpo will need to use powerless skills in Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4
The nature of their abilities means that Yukichi and Ranpo will have to rely on skills and expertise outside of their abilities to solve their problems, which most likely means they must also rely on each other. Fans can compare the beginning of Season 4 and Bungo Stray Dogs’ Bad Apple movie, in which all the characters are stripped of their abilities and forced to fight against them. However, unlike in the movie, Ranpo and Yukichi will likely be up against other characters who have full control over their abilities — which would make for an interesting conflict.
The best part is that this is just the beginning, which, along with details about Yukichi and Ranpo’s origins, will lay the groundwork for the exciting rest of the season. Despite the lack of flashy abilities or details about Ranpo’s case abilities, the start of Season 4 is a welcome change to Bungo Stray Dogs.
