Manga with brand new plot about rookie high school baseball launches in August 2021
Kodoani.com – Amazon’s listing of manga’s fifth volume Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine S by Kōichirō Hoshino lists that the manga will end in that volume. The manga volume will be released on August 8.
Hoshino launched the manga in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in August 2021.
The manga is based on Akatsuki and Kadokawa’s Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine and is a brand new story centered on a rookie high school baseball player named Asu Suzumura.
In the original Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine game, the player takes on the role of an unknown former senior baseball player who lost his baseball career after suffering an unspecified injury. The character moves to his grandmother’s hometown and enrolls in the local high school, determined to never enter the world of baseball again. When the characters meet Tsubasa Arihara, they are persuaded to become managers of the school’s baseball team and bring the team to Koshien.
In the game, the player gathers party members (there are more than 50 characters in the game) and experiences the stories of the party members. Players also train members to improve their skills and put members in games to compete. The player must then decide the order in which to hit the ball.
The game launched on iOS and Android devices in June 2017. The game is free to play with in-game items available for purchase.
The game inspired a television anime that premiered in Japan in July 2019.
The franchise also has an original live-action series titled Hachigatsu wa Yoru no Batting Center de opening in July 2021.
