The English dub of the dark fantasy anime, Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Special 1, is set to make its long-awaited debut on Crunchyroll.
Fans of the series can mark their calendars for September 10, at 10:30 p.m. PST, to experience the beginning of the end for the epic anime series. According to the announcement on the official X account, fans in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Middle East can also enjoy the dubbed version in Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian. The announcement comes with an introductory video.
Mike McFarland, known for his work in the anime industry, served as ADR Director for the final season of Attack on Titan. The returning English voice cast includes fan favorites Bryce Papenbrook (Eren Jaeger), Jessie James Grelle (Armin Arlert), and Trina Nishimura (Mikasa Ackerman).
The final season of The Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Special 1 originally aired earlier this year in Japan and was later streamed on Crunchyroll in its original language. After a year of waiting, Special 1 serves as the 29th and possibly penultimate installment in the fourth and final season, opening up the story of The Rumbling, as characters such as Armin, Mikasa, Reiner, etc. started implementing their plans.
This announcement brought relief to the film’s huge fan base as fans had to wait longer than expected for the premiere. The delay comes as a surprise since the English release of Attack on Titan season 4 is usually only a month behind the subtitled release. Following the premiere of Special 1, Hanji’s English voice actress Jessica Calvello revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that she had begun recording.
This delay also fueled speculation about the release of the English version of Special 2, which is scheduled to launch in Japan in the fall. Furthermore, there are also rumors about a possible Special 3, but no details have been confirmed yet.
