Studio OLM has released the first trailer for the original anime Pon no Michi.
As detailed on Anime Corner, Pon No Michi’s official YouTube channel has unveiled the series’ debut promotional video, which introduces the main characters and their respective voice actors. On September 15, the story of the anime revolves around a group of friends from the coastal region of Japan. Onomichi City bonded over their shared love of the tabletop strategy game, mahjong. Currently, the official release date of the series is January 2024.
Tatsuma Minamikawa, who is known for his work on Fire Force and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is both the writer and director for Pon no Michi. Scott McDonald (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation) is in charge of Art Direction. Negi Haruba (The Quintessential Quintuplets) and Kenji Ota (Lance N’ Masques) are both designing the characters. Kaori Maeda (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) plays Nashiko Jippensha, a young woman who is kicked out of her home and decides to form a mahjong group in her father’s old living room. Akio Otsuka (Ghost In The Shell), Iori Saeki (Tokyo Mew Mew New), Shion Wakayama (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) and Yui Kondo (D-Gray Man Hollow) play Chonbo, Pai Kawahigashi, Izumi Tokutomi and Riche Hayashi, corresponding.
Studio OLM is the famous studio behind many famous anime series. One of the studio’s latest hits, Komi Can’t Communication, started out as a romantic comedy manga in May 2016. Written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda, the plot revolves around a student Introverted high school student named Shouko Komi, who suffers from severe social anxiety. Her classmate, Hirohito Tadano, befriends Komi and decides to help her achieve her goal of making 100 new friends. Season 2 of the anime premiered in April 2022, lasting 12 episodes before ending in June 2022.
Studio OLM also produced the Pokémon series, which ended the long journey of Ash Ketchum and his partner, Pikachu. The final 11 episodes of Ash’s adventure, titled “Aim to Become a Pokemon Master!” recently launched on Netflix earlier this month; The premiere was somewhat overshadowed by the release of the highly anticipated One Piece live-action series. OLM is currently producing animations for Pokémon Horizons, focusing on two brand new characters named Riko and Roy. Netflix will make Pokémon Horizons available to viewers in North America sometime in 2023.
Pon no Michi will be released in Japan in January 2024. However, it is unknown when the series will launch internationally.
