Luffy and Usopp from Netflix’s live-action One Piece join the anime cast as they recreate one of the most iconic scenes in the entire series.
The cast of the anime and Netflix’s One Piece recently recreated one of the film’s most iconic scenes on stage.
Iñaki Godoy (Luffy) and Jacob Gibson (Usopp) were introduced as special guests at this year’s Jump Festa, along with their respective anime voice actors, Mayumi Tanaka and Akemi Okamura. When Nami’s Okamura recited her lines in the Arlong arc, stabbing herself before begging Luffy to help her, Tanaka and Godoy entertained the audience with their different interpretations of the character as they change dialogue. The highlight of this scene is when they shout “Atarimaeda!” and “Of course I will!” Gibson is then introduced along with the Japanese voice actors of the other Straw Hats, the scene ending with them destroying Arlong’s crew.

Nami’s “Help Me” scene remains important to both anime and live-action fans, creating a sense of ‘found family’ that influenced the structure of One Piece Part 1. “This is not just is the origin story of how this crew came together,” showrunner Matt Owens explains. “It’s the encapsulation of the idea of a family being established. Spirit of solidarity and adventure.” At that time, Luffy showed that despite Nami’s betrayal, he and the Straw Hats were still willing to do anything to help her.
This scene will reappear in the One Piece remake, which has been announced to be adapted from the “East Blue Saga,” where the scene originated. Similar to the video above, the original anime scene was less about the animation and more about the heart, character acting, and soundtrack – aspects where the One Piece anime staff disagreed about the remake and how it will fairly reward the efforts of those who have made them. came before.
