SSSS.Gridman revived a forgotten Tokusatsu drama
Produced by Studio Trigger, 2018’s SSSS.Gridman isn’t actually the first installment in the series. The property began more than a decade ago with the 1993-1994 Denkou Choujin Gridman series, a live-action show created by Tsuburaya Productions in connection with the Ultraman tokusatsu series. Rikka Takarada is a member of this group and the only female member of the group. The anime reboot began a broader reboot of the Gridman property than it already is, with the follow-up anime SSSS. Dynazenon releases in 2021. There are also multiple manga spin-offs from the 2018 series, while Rikka and the rest of the Gridman Alliance return in the 2023 anime film Gridman Universe.
