The upcoming Terminator Zero series on Netflix will be released at the end of August. According to the creative team, the new Terminator anime will take the series back to its horror roots.
In an interview with Empire, showrunner Mattson Tomlin revealed his approach to the new Terminator animated film. “I wanted to lean into the body horror, serial killer feel of the first film,” Tomlin said. “Almost like Friday The 13th or A Nightmare On Elm Street.” Terminator Zero director Masashi Kudo also explained how the show took elements from Japanese cinema. “The film also incorporates J-Horror [Japanese horror] factors. [We] focus on emphasizing the shadows and determining what to show and what to keep.”
