For Vietnamese gamers, the Half-Life series seems to have become one of the irreplaceable monuments.
And so do gamers around the world. It’s been a long time since Half-Life 2, and fans have been waiting for Valve to update, or more specifically, release a new installment in the series. However, all that remains is hope, and in reality, the famous developer is too satisfied with products like Steam Deck and shows no signs of wanting to release any more projects.
When is Half-Life 3 coming?
Still, silence doesn’t mean inaction. Recently, many fans of the series were secretly happy after a mysterious project called White Sands was found in the profile of a voice actor working for Valve. According to sources, this project is currently being developed by Valve, and coincidentally, the team behind the success of Half-Life: Alyx is working on a single-player game. This has led many to think that Half-Life 3 is being developed in secret. And a popular YouTuber who specializes in digging up information about Valve has found even more.
According to the YouTuber, the main character of Project White Sands – whatever it is – is definitely wearing a HEV suit, the iconic orange and black suit worn by protagonist Gordon Freeman. He also found several files referencing various alien creatures such as gorillas and jellyfish – species that have appeared in Half-Life: Alyx. According to the YouTuber, the project has been in development for over four years and has been accelerating in recent months.
With the average development time for a AAA game these days being around 5-6 years, if the above information is true, Half-Life 3 will probably only be released in 2025, or 2026 at the earliest. This is reasonable, especially when Valve is still relatively busy with Counter-Strike 2 as well as popularizing its Steam Deck.
