From Worlds King to Heartbreaking End
In 2022, after the 2022 World Championship finals ended with DRX's “unbelievable” victory, all praise was given to the team nicknamed “Blue Dragon”. In particular, the player who received the most attention at that time was Deft – a player who was also old and before 2023, he was still the oldest player to ever win the World Championship. Riot even released a song for the 2023 World Championship right after that – GODS, to honor Deft's ups and downs journey.
However, everyone knows that Deft has hinted many times that after the 2024 season, no matter how KT Rolster's performance is, Deft will retire to fulfill his duty. However, in KT's final match, Deft played extremely poorly, if not to say that he had almost no impact on the outcome of the match. In all 5 games, Deft was given the lowest score in KT. In particular, a comment from the audience in game 5 was extremely heartbreaking: “Everything should end after CKTG 2022. But you are still in that dream. Now the dream is over, and it's time to say goodbye, Deft”.
The tragic end of the king of CKTG
In fact, since CKTG 2022 until now, Deft and KT Rolster have fought together for 4 more domestic seasons and 1 CKTG. To be fair, the 1996-born ADC still has many matches that remind people of his peak. But Deft is no longer the type of ADC who “knows how to take down opponents when he is cared for” like Aiming, Peyz or the type of ADC who is rich in mutations like Viper, Gumayusi. Among the 5 most successful teams in the LCK, Deft is probably the most underrated ADC.
In the match against T1, there was an image at the end of game 5, there was an image that made the LoL community feel sorry, when Faker chased Deft. Deft's last kill (probably) in his career was not Faker but Oner. But it can be said that he completed his mission and he also had all the glory that a player can have.
