Beyblade X fans on social media have criticized the use of AI-generated art in the anime’s ending theme video.
Beyblade’s official X (formerly Twitter) account recently promoted aespa’s version of the anime’s ending lyrics, “ZOOM ZOOM.” The ending credits explicitly mention the use of AI in the video, listing AI producer Arai Mono, AI director Daru, AI production managers Yutaro Mochizuki, Hiroaki Yabusaki and Cyokut, and AI artist Layris as collaborators. All come from AiHUB company. Fans were quick to notice and criticize the company for its choice in the increasingly heated AI debate.

Fist of the North Star artist Tetsuo Hara makes an important statement about the rise of AI, saying that unlike him, machines “cannot resolve to die.”
The use of AI in anime continues to be an extremely polarizing topic. Bleach director Tomohisa Taguchi and Crayon director Shin-chan Keiichi Hara made waves last week when they announced that in addition to helping write simple scripts, AI could replace “lazy animators.” lazy” are like “leeches”. The consensus in the anime community seems to be that creators should be empowered and their hard work should not be turned into training material. However, some fans and creators are on the other side of the AI in anime debate. A re-released documentary about famous anime composer Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man) has revealed that the AI music program ChainsawGAN was used to create songs for the soundtrack.
Despite widespread fan opposition, the entire anime industry appears to be moving to embrace AI. The iconic Black Jack series recently released its first AI comic, Shonen Jump’s Comic CoPilot helps writers with simple story ideas, and Wit Studio, Production IG and Netflix’s AI project for further shows that industry leaders are betting on the influence of technology. It’s unclear whether Beyblade X manga creator Posuka Demizu was informed about the AI artwork. The anime begins airing in October 2023 and is Demizu’s next big movie after The Promised Neverland.
