One of the most intriguing aspects of Chainsaw Man is how Denji’s future as a weapon of mass destruction in Japan is being shaped. The Public Safety Unit needs his frenzy mode to exterminate demons/demons, with Makima (his superior) manipulating him to ensure they continue to destroy these creatures. However, Denji has limitations – mentally when he was 16, but also physically, as he lost a lot of blood and in the process, fuel.
Ironically, once Denji kills more monsters, he has the ability to eat blood and blood in the field, re-energizing for the dangerous battles he plunges into. It’s a crimson Catch-22, but again, Makima and fellow superior Hayakawa have no problem mining Denji—and other hybrids like Power, as the goal remains the same. Interestingly, while this creates a chaotic vision and hasty attitude from Denji, this major flaw may well be his greatest strength.
Chainsaw Man’s Devil Eats on Fear
Makima has had a meeting with her shady bosses, letting them know she will have the resources she needs to take down villains like the Gun Devil. It’s a global arms race now, so she wants to make sure her country stays ahead of other nations; however, Denji is still immature. He still enjoys groping women, not to mention the toxic Himeno who always tries to flirt with him. It’s all distracting, but Himeno actually reveals key insights into her own past story.

She has lost her family in old wars, much like Hayakawa, with a boss telling her that these demons feed on fear. That’s why she will always be vulnerable. Hayakawa would have been better off when he was driven by rage, since Gun Devil killed his family, but either way, they’re all human. It doesn’t matter if they have a contract with demons to use them as weapons – they will still exude the fear these demons absorb and become stronger.
Chainsaw Man’s Denji lacks the fear of other characters
However, in Denji’s case, he is fearless. It’s something Himeno, Makima, and even Hayakawa have seen, which is why he’s able to jump into battle against Batman, and now into the mouth of the Eternal Devil — literally. Denji doesn’t care; He just wants to get work done, earn money and connect with his teammates. As a result, he has an unyielding tunnel vision that works in his favor. To make it even better, he loves the job, so he is defeating these monsters by enjoying it even more.
However, it worries Chainsaw Man fans as this hasty attitude could get him killed. Not all demons are alike, so once they lure him with traps or adapt in battle to lead him, Denji is in danger of death. He’s not very good tactically, but for now, his turbulent outlook is the ultimate nullifier. Once word spread about him being a fanatic and a loose cannonball, slaying these demons with his bravery, they could think twice and hide. But in the end, it could invite an angry Gun Devil in, seek its greatest challenge, and place Denji’s crew in impending danger.
