Aki Kanada and Tōru Sakurai join the cast for “The Sky Above, The Spread-Out Sea, Beyond the Abyssal City” arc
Kodoani.com – New season of the anime Shangri-La Frontiernamed “The Sky Above, The Spread-Out Sea, Beyond the Abyssal City”will continue the dramatic journey of Rakurō Hizutome and will begin airing from today January 26. The production team has just revealed the promotional video, images, and cast for this season, creating great expectations from fans.
New cast
The new season will introduce notable characters:
Aki Kanada in the role Studean NPC who holds a unique scenario involving the “Ctarnidd of the Abyss,” one of the Seven Giants.
Tōru Sakurai in the role Carthe NPC who accompanies Sunraku on his journey to Abyssal City.
Part two and music
The second season of the anime aired from October 13lasts in two consecutive courseswhich is half a year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime in both the original and the English dub.

Plot and origin
Based on the series of novels by Katarinafirst published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2017, Shangri-La Frontier tells the story of Rakurō Hizutome, a high school student with a special hobby: exploring and playing “bad” games. When entering the world Shangri-La FrontierRakurō faces challenges far beyond regular games, uncovering hidden secrets in this vast VR world.
The manga adaptation was produced by Ryōsuke Fuji illustrated, started publishing on Weekly Shōnen Magazine in July 2020, and is now Kodansha USA released in English.
