Recently, Marvel Studios revealed the first trailer of Daredevil: Born Again, one of the company's 2025 television projects. Besides the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as the villain Kingpin, this trailer also draws attention to a collection of five Daredevil hoods. That detail shows that there will likely be at least 5 different versions of Daredevil that will appear in the 18 episodes of the first season.
2 out of the 5 hats above have appeared on the small screen. First, the crimson version (2nd from left) appears to come from Netflix's Defenders Saga series. This may be a connection detail between the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) and Netflix's previous Daredevil series, continuing the somewhat unfinished story left behind by the third season.
Matt Murdock also wore a dark red outfit in a cameo scene in the first episode of the Echo series, through a flashback involving Daredevil's battle with Maya Lopez and Kingpin's subordinates in an abandoned warehouse. This segment is set during the “Blip” event (Thanos's infinity snap) in the MCU, confirming that Matt was lucky to escape Thanos' attack in Avengers: Infinity War. During the 5 years of the Blip, Matt remained active as Daredevil, opening up a long period with many stories that Marvel Studios can exploit in the upcoming series.
Meanwhile, the yellow hat (third from left) is the version that appears in the series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. This is a version inspired by the character's first series – Daredevil #1, released in 1964. The yellow costume has special meaning to Matt Murdock because it is made from his boxing robe. late father “Battling” Jack Murdock. In the MCU, Matt's golden costume was designed by Luke Jacobson, who was in charge of Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk's wardrobe.
The white hat is a completely new version for Matt Murdock, reminiscent of Daredevil's “altered” costume version in the series of the same name by Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder, released in 2023. In this series , Matt gave up his superhero career and became a priest after being weighed down by intense guilt. However, when realizing that New York City still needed Daredevil's protection and help, Matt decided to “return to the game”. He even sought the help of Doctor Strange to face his inner demons. This is a plot that has many similarities with what the first trailer of Daredevil: Born Again revealed.
The new costume also creates a completely new identity for Daredevil, a “pure guardian” version, untainted by darkness. This promises a significant change for Matt Murdock – who has always struggled and struggled with his double life.
The black hat (fourth from left) appears to be inspired by the Shadowland series, released in 2010. The series revolves around Matt's return to New York City after becoming leader of The Hand . Here, he built a temple called Shadowland, which acted as a strange, somewhat extreme and dangerous prison. However, it turns out that all of Matt's actions were manipulated by others, and he himself was controlled by the Beast of the Hand, thereby creating one of Daredevil's darkest incarnations.
The Hand appeared in Netflix's Defenders Saga, but was later killed off after the fall of Midland Circle. However, with 18 episodes in the first season, Daredevil: Born Again can completely exploit this super villain organization, thereby bringing the darkest version of Matt Murdock to the small screen. Not excluding the possibility that, because of the dark actions he committed while possessed by the Beast of the Hand, Matt decided to give up his superhero career as shown in the trailer. .
The final version of the hat is bright red, making fans restless in photos taken on the set of Daredevil: Born Again. This outfit brings Matt Murdock closer to the classic design from Marvel comics, although still lacking the signature “DD” symbol on the chest. In addition, the brighter colors also partly show that the upcoming series will still have some MCU-style humor, although the trailer has revealed a level of violence not inferior to the Netflix series.
Daredevil: Born Again will begin airing on March 4 this year.
