Dragon Ball Daima has shaken up the Dragon Ball franchise in some pretty major ways, since the anime series first started last year. In the newly released episode 13, the show gives the Kamehameha move the impact it once had in the classic series.
Daima forced Goku and Vegeta to rely on their skills to compensate for the lack of fighting ability in their small forms. So far, the anime has seen the two reach new heights of power to overcome new threats in the Demon Realm.
Goku goes back to basics in Dragon Ball Daima
Dragon Ball producer Akio Iyoku explained in a recent interview that Goku and the others have been turned into children again. The reason is that it is both a way to appease fans who have stopped following the classic Dragon Ball anime, and to bring something new to more loyal fans. The production team thought it would be interesting for the Z Warriors and their families are turned into small animals to kick off a new animated series.
Clearly, the action scenes in Dragon Ball Daima so far are both engaging for loyal fans, and fun to watch in general. Goku and Vegeta had to adjust and adapt to fighting in much smaller bodies, resulting in limitations on what they could do.
Daima's setting takes place after the events of the Majin Buu arc, before the Battle of Gods arc that opens Dragon Ball Super. At this point, Goku and Vegeta also don't have many of the god-powered transformations they get later in the series. Goku even had to go back to using his Power Pole in the Demon Realm to make up the difference.
Daima's story makes the Super Saiyan state more important than ever, and Vegeta even reveals his Super Saiyan 3 form. Dragon Ball Daima returns to the essence of the classic Dragon Ball movie, where fans can easily watch every punch and kick thrown simultaneously. That means even moves that use Ki seem more epic. And the Kamehameha move has also received visual and physical upgrades in the new movie.
Goku's Kamehameha attack becomes powerful again in Dragon Ball Daima
As Goku is limited in what he can do, it also means that his techniques are quite limited as well. Every use of the Kamehameha in Dragon Ball Daima feels huge, as it's technically currently the strongest move in Goku's arsenal.
Goku will not be able to use many other powerful moves as seen in Dragon Ball Super. So every time he uses the Kamehameha it feels much better, like how Goku used it to repel a giant dog in the latest episode of Daima.
Dragon Ball Daima has gone back to basics in many ways, and those basics have been enhanced to deliver a fresh experience. It gives all the action a kick as the action gets more chaotic throughout the series' run. With this new yet familiar take on Goku, fans will also get a familiar yet fresh take on everything Goku can do.
