Krillin, Yamcha, and maybe even Tien always seem to be the best candidates for the position of the strongest human warrior in Dragon Ball history, but there are two cases in this situation. Super Dragon Ball prove without a doubt that Master Roshi above and beyond them. This is despite the fact that he’s been on the sidelines more than any other human except Yamcha and still can’t even fly.
The first instance occurred during the Tournament of Power when Goku struggled to defeat Jiren. In chapter 39 of Dragon Ball Super by manga author Akira Toriyama and artist Toyotarou, Roshi replaces Goku and is actually against Jiren. While dodging Jiren’s attack, Whis and Beerus in amazement discuss Roshi’s abilities regarding an undisclosed technique. Although they agree that he has not yet mastered this mysterious technique, Whis admits that it is a similar principle that Roshi can achieve through wisdom with age.
Master Roshi is almost the opponent of the gods of Dragon Ball Super
The two gods are clearly referring to Infinity Instinct, a form Goku has struggled to master for quite some time and one that Beerus, the God of Destruction, has yet to fully understand. Although what Roshi experienced was not a true Super Instinct state, it is hard to believe that he still grasped this concept without even knowing what Super Instinct is while using what can considered its “life and death” version. No other person has come close to achieving such a remarkable achievement, and for good reason. That’s because age plays a big part in this and Master Roshi is much older than his human warriors.
The second example demonstrating Master Roshi’s unparalleled power occurs when Earth’s heroes protect the planet from Moro’s Galactic Prison convicts escape without Vegeta and Goku. Although each hero experienced their own successes, all suffered shameful failures except for Roshi. Starting in chapter #57, Tien loses to the robot because it involves insults, and although Chiaotzu succeeds in this regard, sadly this is Chiaotzu’s first win in the entire manga. For Krillin, his main achievement is raising his energy high enough so Goku can find them and save the world. Furthermore, Roshi even told Krillin when his former student was buffed that it was useless to do so as he wouldn’t be able to help them. Then Goku cleans up one of Tien and Yamcha’s messes with ease when he arrives.
One weakness of Master Roshi makes him look stronger
Earth’s heroes protecting the planet from Moro’s escaped convicts is crucial because this is the time when they prove their strength as Goku and Vegeta have a different bent. While most of them look pathetic, Master Roshi’s successes have elevated him greatly. His most embarrassing failure was his impure thoughts that prevented him from defeating three female opponents. However, after blindfolded, he was able to put them on and force them to merge. This is such an amazing feat that one of the women has frankly stated that he is probably the only one who can actually get stronger after being blindfolded.
By naturally learning the basics of a divine technique, some gods cannot even master and play much better than their younger counterparts in an all-out battle, Super Dragon Ball clearly said that the strongest person on Earth is none other than Master Roshi.
