While Natsu and the others ponder their next move, Mercphobia awakens and grabs Karameel by the neck, telling her to run. Just then, Natsu notices smoke coming from Ermina, and the group rushes back to town. Mercphobia finally reveals its dragon form as multiple tornadoes ravage the town. Karameel arrives on the scene and says it was all her fault, revealing that she was the one who allowed the White Mage to steal Mercphobia's powers.
A flashback reveals that Mercphobia was prepared to die at the hands of whoever Elefseria sent against him next, prompting Karameel to approach the White Mage cult in the hopes that taking away some of his magical energy would return Ermina to her former self and allow Mercphobia to live as a normal human.
