Kodoani.com – Second season of the anime “The Fire Hunter” (Hikari no Ō) is expected to premiere in January 2024. The anime series is adapted from the fantasy novel series of the same name by author Rieko Hinata and illustrator Akihiro Yamada.

Anime “The Fire Hunter” is set in a chaotic world after humanity’s apocalyptic Final War. In this world, a vast forest is covered with fiery creatures and other beasts, and many small protected communities reside within it. Humans can spontaneously combust when exposed to fire, and the only source of energy for them lies in the bodies of firebirds. The story revolves around people who hunt firebirds for their energy source and their adventures in the dangerous forest.
The first season of the anime “The Fire Hunter” premiered on January 14 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. The production team for the anime includes Junji Nishimura as director at Signal.MD and Mamoru Oshii supervising and writing the script.
The story begins with Tōko, a young girl from a papermaking town, and Kōshi, a boy born in the capital, on their journey in the dangerous world of “The Fire Hunter.” Tôko and Kōshi are the two main characters of the story, and they face many difficulties and dangers in this challenging world.
The novel series “The Fire Hunter” began publishing in December 2018 and has reached its fourth volume. This work has received attention from readers with its combination of literary works and unique illustrations by Akihiro Yamada.
