The SEED FREEDOM ZERO project has been in preparation for a long time. Directed by Mitsuo Fukudamanufacturer Hisakazu Naka and voice actors Sōichirō Hoshi (as Kira Yamato) shared that the script for SEED FREEDOM ZERO was completed 20 years ago by Chiaki Morosawa and Shigeru Morita. Notably, half of the storyboards were completed and the oldest sequences even predated Gundam Seed FREEDOM. Initially, SEED FREEDOM ZERO was planned as an OVA (Original Video Animation), but the current presentation is still being considered.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM debuted in Japan on January 26 and reached No. 1 at the box office, with sales 1.06 billion yen (about 7.2 million USD) in the first three days, setting a new record for box office revenue of the Gundam series in Japan. Two special editions of the film are being shown in theaters for limited 14-day runs, with new endings added, providing a fuller experience for audiences.
Director Fukuda shared that these special editions help the production team refine unfinished parts in the first theatrical release, complete the segments and achieve the goal of making “the complete version of the movie”. Seed FREEDOM.”
International success and streaming service
After making a splash in Japan, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM was shown in the United States and Canada in May, in collaboration with Bandai Namco Filmworks and Fathom Events. The film is also currently available on Netflix for a global audience to enjoy.
