The volume includes two stories previously published in The Sneaker magazine, along with a new sequel
Kodoani.com – Live broadcast of “Sneaker Bunko 35th Anniversary Festival!” Special has provided detailed information about the new volume in the light novel series “Haruhi Suzumiya” by Nagaru Tanigawa on Sunday. This volume will include two short stories previously published in Kadokawa’s “The Sneaker” magazine, along with new sequels to those two stories.
TThe short story “Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō: Fantasy-Hen” (Haruhi Suzumiya Theater: Fantasy Arc) was published in the August 2004 issue of “The Sneaker” magazine. It begins when the SOS Brigade is seemingly transported to a fake world thought. The story continues in different worlds through the sequel story “Kaete Kita Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō” (The Return of Haruhi Suzumiya Theater) in the June 2006 issue of “The Sneaker” magazine. New volume coming soon will add a new sequel short story to the previous stories.
Illustrator Noizi Ito drew the illustration above, revealing the different world settings of the SOS Brigade’s encounter, to announce the new volume. Sunday’s theatrical event also announced that the 2009 “Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensō” concert event will return after 15 years with cast and composer Satoru Kousaki.
Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito published 11 novels for the original series from 2003-2011. The novel series has more than 20 million copies in print as of 2017. The Little publisher, Brown Books for Young Readers and Yen Press released the entire series in 10 volumes between 2009 and 2013. The first 10 episodes are also available digitally in English.
Kadokawa published “The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya,” another volume containing two previous short stories and one new short story, in November 2020, and Yen Press published the volume digitally in English at the same time , with a print edition following in June 2021.
The first season of the anime series “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” premiered in 2006 in a non-linear order and was rebroadcast in 2009 with new episodes and a new chronological order. Kyoto Animation animated the first and second seasons of the series. Bandai Entertainment previously held the license to both films, but Funimation re-released the anime in 2016.
The anime series “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” premiered in 2010.
The novel has also been adapted into many manga and spinoff manga. Some spin-off manga have also inspired anime works.
