At the LPL’s Acedemy tournament, each team will “be” banned from 15 champions in the third game with the new “Fearless” mechanism.
Recently, the League of Legends Development League (LDL) – the second division of the LPL (similar to VCSB) – has implemented a new rule “Fearless” in BO3 matches.
Specifically, the new rule will not allow the selection of champions that have been used in previous games. That is, in the second game, you will have the equivalent of 10 bans for each team (5 champions selected in the previous game, 5 bans in the match). Similar to the third game, each team will ban 15 champions. However, the banning of champions that have played in the previous game is separate for each team (Team 1 can pick used champions from Team 2).
Pair of matches with “1 not 2” in the world:
On July 14, “Fearless” was applied for the first time at the LDL tournament.
In addition to the 5 basic bans of each match, the 5 champions used in the first match (in row 2) have also been “crossed out”. UPA easily got Kalista without worrying about YM taking it. Similar to Renata Glasc for YM.
Coming to the third match between WEA and RYL, with 30 champions “listed” on the banned list.
The pick and ban line is dense with 15 bans for each team, the number of popular champions in the meta becomes much less. Vex with 0% pick rate was also “forced” by the WEA to have banned almost all mid lane champions.
What future for “Fearless”:
This is a very interesting “mechanism” for tournaments, where both coaches and players have to “train themselves more than the masters. The value of a real coach will be raised to a whole new level, as they have to identify almost 30 bans to proceed to the third game.
Along with that, the interesting and professional will be enhanced. There are no longer “round-the-clock” formations, instead new tactics and new champions will appear more in this “Fearless” mechanism.
Conclude:
More variety in gameplay, tactics, and coach elevation are what can be predicted about this mode. “Fearless” promises to be an extremely interesting mechanism at major tournaments in the near future. The LDL organizers have also confirmed that if successful in this mode, it will expand to the entire LPL region.
