One Piece chapter 1167 titled “Child of Ida” continues to delve deep into the tragic past and hidden secrets of the World Government. This chapter not only confirms Shanks’ new identity but also witnesses the emotional breakdown of Prince Loki on Elbaf.

Shanks used to have close connections with the World Government
In a flashback, Harald is assigned by the World Government to secretly assist the Navy in defeating the pirates, as part of his oath to atone for “a thousand years of the giants’ sins”. Harald was promoted to “Devoted Blade of God” by the Five Elder Stars, a confidant of the God Knights, and was given a tattoo on his left arm.
About 15 years ago, while Fisher Tiger escaped from Mary Geoise, Hancock and his two brothers were also rescued. A mysterious figure helped Fisher Tiger while he was freeing the slaves, and that person was apparently Shanks.
A few days later, Harald arrived at the Sanctuary and found Shanks talking to Shamrock in the city. Shanks now lives in Mary Geoise with Garling and Shamrock. He wears the same God Knight uniform as the other two and has a bandage over his left eye (this chapter does not explain the reason for the injury). The two were discussing the Fisher Tiger incident.
Shanks (known as Saint Shanks – Devoted Blade of God) angrily said to Shamrock: “How can you understand, the feeling of having wasted 24 years of my life!! No wonder I always feel like I don’t belong there… Everything is so disgusting!”
Garling shows off Shamrock and Shanks to Harald. Harald tried to start a conversation, but Shanks scolded him for being a “Noble Pawn”, clearly showing the arrogance of a World Noble.
Loki’s family tragedy and extreme outrage
At Elbaf, Ida became seriously ill but refused to contact Harald because she did not want to disturb his duties. Loki was also worried but refused to show it. Ida told her best friend that Loki, even though he was not blood related, was still her precious child.
At the end of the chapter, Loki discovers that the Brewers village (Estrid’s hometown) has poisoned Ida with a toxic grain mold to avenge Estrid. The Brewers village giant said: “I was talking about the absurdity of letting a foreign woman like her become Queen! You must agree with the same, Loki! That’s why I poisoned her… with ergot. In the last double page of the chapter, Loki destroys the Brewers village. The whole village was engulfed in flames, and Loki grabbed the giant who poisoned Ida by the neck: “Ida won’t die from this, right…? I clearly remember my biological mother throwing me into the Underworld because she hated me! What the hell treasure! What a trash clan! Ida can’t die! She’s the only one… I call mother!”
The chapter ends with Loki engulfed in a sea of angry flames. There’s still a new chapter next week.
