CBR Anime Week brought to you by HULU ANIMAYHEM
Volume 27 of Gege Akutami's popular Jujutsu Kaisen series recently hit shelves in Japan, and the franchise is doing its best to celebrate. In honor of Fumihiko Takaba, one of the series' main characters, Jujutsu Kaisen recently released a live-action parody featuring Takaba as a “supernatural” high school teacher.
The official Shonen Jump YouTube channel recently posted the aforementioned video, which features Takaba as an overzealous high school teacher who speaks loudly and makes dramatic gestures in class. According to Comic Natalie, the sketch is a direct parody of Coca-Cola’s popular “Fanta Academy Series” — a series of parody commercials centered around the carbonated soft drink brand. In Jujutsu Kaisen’s version, Takaba replaces Fanta Academy’s “Choujin-sensei.” Iconic villain Kenjaku (aka Fake Geto) also makes an appearance at the end of the show. Readers can watch the full video below.

Shonen Jump Releases Coca-Cola Fanta's Jujutsu Kaisen Parody
This isn’t the first time Jujutsu Kaisen has mocked the Fanta brand. In Chapter 242 of the JJK manga, Takaba takes on Kenjaku in a massive battle during the ongoing “Shinjuku Showdown” arc. Using his famous “Comedian” technique, Takaba can warp reality into any fantasy scenario he finds humorous. Using this ability, he easily transports himself and Kenjaku into the absurd world typical of a Grape Fanta commercial. Many Jujutsu Kaisen fans on X have pointed out that the sign is a reference to an old joke that plays on the phrases “Fanta Sea” and “Fantasea.” To further promote the latest JJK volume, the official Jujutsu Kaisen X page released a full-color version of the Fanta sign, which has been shared over 8,000 times as of this writing.
Takaba’s time in the spotlight is a novelty for the series. What’s more, neither protagonist Yuji Itadori nor fan-favorite icon Satoru Gojo, who have both been featured in events and marketing campaigns, have made an appearance—a rarity when it comes to JJK marketing. However, the series has more in store for Takaba (and Kenjaku) fans this month. From July 4 to 10, a Wi-Fi-equipped promotional truck featuring Takaba’s famous catchphrase, “I don’t want you to be my Wi-Fi!” will be traveling around Tokyo’s Shibuya and Shinjuku areas. Additionally, those who take a selfie next to the visiting truck will have a chance to win one of the costumes featured in JJK’s Fanta parody video.
