They confirmed that a mobile version of Skate is in development. Since the release of Skate 3 in 2010, fans have been eagerly awaiting the new game of the series, Skate 4, now known as Skate. The company has released the first trailer.
The video revealed a few features the developers plan to bring to the game. One of the cool features of the game is called CollaboZone, where players can collaborate to build structures like buildings and ramps that appear in other people’s worlds.
Skate will be released as a live-serve game, the game’s creative director, Cuz Parry, has made clear. “This is not a sequel. This is not a remake. Skate will be a live service game,” he emphasized.
As a free game, Skate Mobile game will feature microtransactions to monetize the game. However, the developers revealed that the game will not have a “pay-to-win” feature. Players will not need money to unlock certain areas of the game. “We’re taking inspiration from games like Apex Legends or other popular free-to-play titles, where spending money is optional and mostly about skins and convenience.” – Isabelle Mocquard, Head product management at EA said. The developers also plan seasonal discounts and live in-game events.
Skate was released as a free-to-play game on original PCs, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game will also feature cross-play and cross-progress after the mobile version launches. The release date of the game has not been announced.
Skate was originally a skateboarding video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3. The game was developed by EA Black Box and released in 2007. Two sequels, Skate 2 and Skate 3, were released for the PlayStation 3. and Xbox 360, as well as Skate It – a spin-off for the Wii, Nintendo DS and iOS.
The game relies heavily on physics to model the skater’s movements. Havok, Endorphin and others are used to model the joints of the human body. Evidence from various versions of EA’s official website shows that Skate has undergone some major changes during development.
