Kodoani.com – The official website of the animejapan conference announced a special exhibition for Dragon Heart – Adventures Beyond This Worldthe new film from the controversial religious organization Happy Science (Kōfuku no Kagaku). The film is scheduled to be released in May and was introduced as an adventure story that surpassed the world of soul, full of mysterious and magical elements.
The plot revolves around Ryusuke, a junior high school student from Tokyo, and cousin Tomomi. During the summer vacation in Tokushima, they had an accident and was swept away by the fast stream at the Anabuki River. When it seemed dead, a mysterious dragon appeared and took them to a strange old man, who declared that they had passed away. To be revived, they must explore the world of soul and find the mission in life. The journey leads them to horrific scenes in hell, where death and life are repeated in haunting images. Since then, they continue the adventure in unknown lands, facing many challenges to find the meaning of their lives.
The film was noted as the last project of Ryuho Okawa, Founder of Happy Science, as an initial manager and creator. Isamu Imakake, the director who has implemented Thestical Laws, taking on the role of production guidance. The film has a title song called Dragon Heart, performed by artist Kouta.
The dubbed cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Ryusuke, Chinatsu Hirose as Tomomi, with the participation of Shigeru Chiba, Shunsuke Takeuchi and Shinichirō Miki.
The 2025 Animejapan will take place at Tokyo Big Sight on March 22-23, where the Dragon Heart movie will be introduced as a highlight at the event. Although the Happy Science organization has been controversial, this film still promises to attract attention from Japanese anime and cinema lovers.
