Iron Gate AB introduces some new content in Valheim’s upcoming Mistlands update, including the mysterious ruins of a past civilization.
After the release of the Hearth & Home update of Valheim This past September, developer Iron Gate AB focused on developing a new biome, the Mistlands. Mistlands still doesn’t have a release date, but Iron Gate continues to offer small spoilers and word of mouth as work progresses on the next Valheim update. The latest example was shared recently and shows some ruined structures from a mysterious Valheim civilization found deep in the Mistlands.
Two images were shared via an update to .’s Steam profile Valheim believed to be new structures found in the upcoming Mistlands biome. Iron Gate describes the Mistlands as a site where past civilizations built both homes and strongholds. The two images provide a glimpse of that. The first image looks like a stone house. The second image appears to be an aqueduct with tall columns holding it in the sky. Both images have a foggy background, naturally.
Iron Gate also reveals that there’s something more in the teaser image than eye-catching. In a Twitter post featuring one of the Mistlands images, Iron Gate asked “Who could have lived in the Mistlands for a while?” It is possible that Valheim players will encounter these people, or perhaps the cause of their deaths. At the very least, Iron Gate hopes to provide an inside look at what happened in the Mistlands that made it what it is today.
Who might have lived in the Mistlands once upon a time? Whoever they were, they left behind some pretty cool structures, which you can check out in this month’s #Valheim Steam blog!https://t.co/44Iv3Irg6r pic.twitter.com/PgIGzekZZp

The Steam post regarding the Mistlands update mentions that Iron Gate is currently working with the residents of the Mistlands. However, it doesn’t mention what those residents will be like, other than a previously reported reveal for Easter. Iron Gate isn’t willing to share any more information regarding these Mistlands residents, though, saying instead that it wants to keep them out of the woods for “a little longer”.
While no public information has been provided, it does provide clues for Valheim players to ponder. Iron Gate says the inhabitants of the Mistlands are something many players are “curious about.” Given the stone textures of the structures shown in the new Valheims photos, some players speculate the information might be talking about dwarves.
However, this is how Iron Gate likes to reveal its upcoming Valheim updates. It wants players to discover new content by playing Valheim, rather than through screenshots and trailers. It makes the world of Valheim much more interesting to explore. There’s still no release date for the Mistlands update, but Valheim players are certainly eager for more information whenever Iron Gate decides to share it.
