His childhood story is completely tragic and filled with abuse and mistreatment from both his parents, and alienation from his older brother, Toya, who shunned the family and became a villain. Despite these unspeakably horrible circumstances, he still grows up to be one of the best heroes of UA High School.

The UA High School Sports Festival is an extremely important event for students because it gives them the opportunity to first showed his Quirks to the world. Additionally, they can also be recruited by various hero companies based on their performance in the games, making the stakes even higher. Shoto Todoroki certainly feels the pressure, and confronts his classmate Deku, vowing to defeat him.
The upcoming battle is intense, with Deku mastering the new Quirk One For All he inherited from All Might. Although Shoto had intended not to use his fire for personal reasons.He realized that he could lose to Deku without it. Cornered, he threw his left punch and defeated his opponent.
9 Shoto begins using both sides of his Quirk

During the battle between Todoroki and Deku, Shoto realized that he had to overcome his previous limitations to become an effective hero. His father, the Pro Hero, Endeavor, was a cruel and abusive father throughout Shoto's childhood. Out of hatred for Endeavor, He vowed to fight only with his right side, which produces ice.and never use his fire.
However, when fighting an opponent on par with him, he realized that He could never have succeeded at half strength. Despite his personal feelings for his father, using fire became a necessity. He defeated Deku with both halves of his Quirk, and this caused him to begin training with his fire side as well.

After the Sports Festival, Todoroki finds himself thinking about his mother, Rei. He hasn't seen her in years since she left the family due to Endeavor's abuse. Tragically, She burned the left side of Todoroki's face with boiling water. because she couldn't bear to look at anything that reminded her of Endeavor.
Todoroki clearly has a complicated and emotionally strained relationship with his mother, but still happily decides to visit her. The fact that he visits her does not negate the harm she has caused him. However, Shoto seems to sympathize with her more than he does with his father.because she too suffered from Endeavor's cruelty, just like him and his siblings.
7 Shoto joins the battle against the hero killer, Stain
Season 2, Episode 29, “Hero Killer: Stain vs. UA Students”
During the Hosu event of My Hero Academia, Tenya Ida fought the Hero Killer, Stain, on his own. to seek justice for his brother, Tensei, who was injured by a villain. Izuku joins the battle to protect Ida, and eventually, Shoto appears. By the time Shoto arrives, the outcome of the battle is not looking good for the students of UA High.
Deku and Ida are both temporarily paralyzed by Stain's Quirk, but Shoto rushed in at the right moment, unleashing his Quirk on the villain. His contribution to the battle gave Ida and Izuku some time to recover and plan their next moves. Thankfully, the threesome took down the fearsome Hero Killer by working together and protecting each other.
6 Shoto single-handedly takes down Seijin High School in the provisional hero license exam

In season 3 of My Hero Academia, Class 1-A begins testing to receive their Provisional Hero Licenses, will allow them to help Pro Heroes in certain situations. Various high schools participated in the first exam and only one hundred students were able to pass. Izuku suggested that Class 1-A should stick together for safety, but Shoto and several others chose to go on their own.
As Shoto wanders alone, some Seijin High School students ambushed him.causing a ten-on-one fight. Anyone else might have lost their cool, but this threat did not faze Todoroki. He skillfully ignited a gas tank and blew away all of his opponents, literally giving him an impressive victory.
5 Shoto Puts Away His Rivalry With Inasa To Defeat Gang Orca

Inasa Yoarashi was introduced to UA High School and even scored the highest on UA's entrance exam, just slightly higher than Todoroki. However, he chose not to attend UA, choosing Shiketsu High School instead. Inasa developed a deep hatred for Shoto, whom he once admired, when Shoto refused to interact with him during the UA entrance exam.
Inasa's resentment towards Shoto causes him to act rudely towards the UA school hero during the Provisional Hero License Exam, much to Shoto's annoyance. Shoto and Inasa start fighting each other During the trial, instead of fighting Gang Orca like they were supposed to, Shoto and Inasa finally showed their maturity by putting aside their petty feud for a moment to create a tornado to attack their opponents.
4 Shoto realizes his resentment towards the effort is hindering his growth as a hero

It is well known that The relationship between Shoto and his father is tense and cold. Shoto hates Endeavor for the way he treats not only him but also his siblings and mother. Even though he eventually begins to use his fire powers, he still harbors resentment towards Pro Hero.
Failing the Provisional Hero License Exam Was a Wake-Up Call for Todoroki. This loss helps him realize that he needs to work through his issues with his father. He begins to see that even if he doesn't reconcile or rebuild his relationship with Endeavor, he still needs to start working through these issues to lift the emotional burden off his shoulders and help him approach his hero work with a clearer mind.
3 Shoto instructs a noisy class of elementary school students

When Bakugo and Shoto fail the Provisional Hero License Exam, they are required to take several additional classes before they are allowed to retake the exam. One of the tasks they must complete is control a group of naughty elementary school students with Quirks out of control. In some ways, this challenge is even harder than a normal training mission.
Despite never having experienced anything like this before, Shoto excelled. He used the icy aspect of his Quirk to build an amazing playground. to entertain schoolchildren. He won the admiration of elementary school students with his creativity, curbing their bad behavior by keeping them entertained and out of trouble.
Season 5, Episode 91, “Conflict! Class A vs. Class B!”
In one of Todoroki's most candid scenes, he sarcastically comments on the scar on his father, Endeavor's face. After a battle with Nomu, Pro Hero received a scar identical to Todoroki's own burn scar. As he slurps his noodles loudly, Todoroki says, “Your scar there looks horrible,” when he noticed that sign.
This moment is not just a light punch to his father, but has a deeper meaning. Endeavor is partly responsible for the scar on Todoroki's face, as he caused Rei to have a mental breakdown, causing her to burn her own son's face. After receiving this scar, Endeavor finally gets to experience the physical and mental pain that Todoroki struggled with. over the years.

Later in the manga, Shoto and his family defeated Dabi, preventing him from harming innocent civilians. Dabi still hasn't forgiven his family. for all the pain they caused him, even when he was on the verge of death. He didn't die in the war, but was in a near-death state.
Despite his hatred, Todoroki and his family visited Dabi in his injured state. Todoroki asked his brother what his favorite food was, to which Dabi replied soba, which happened to be Todoroki's favorite as well. In this small, seemingly insignificant interaction, both Left and Dabi welcomed each other with open arms, proving that despite everything that had happened, There is still a bit of brotherly love between them.
