My Dress-Up Darling's Action Debut Releases New Cast Photos
Ikeda, who plays Sajuna, describes her role as “a cute, proud but very honest girl, strong-willed, lovable and kind, who never rejects others”. Her on-screen sister Toyoshima (Shinju) revealed that she has been a big fan of the series, adding that the script affirms the sense of courage needed to confess one's feelings and preferences. Likewise, Shiozaki watched the anime, adding that it was his first time cosplaying, describing it as a new experience that taught him a lot. Finally, Gojo's grandfather, played by Yamada, claims that he had never heard of the series, but his son introduced it to him, with the story “drawing me in immediately”. He said the dolls made him fall in love at first sight, drawing him “into a world I had never known before,” adding that he was “grateful to have stumbled upon this piece.”
The live-action My Dress-Up Darling movie will premiere on October 8, 2024, and is quite a surprise announcement considering the relative silence since the anime's Season 2 was confirmed. Fans were previously introduced to the real-life actors of Marin and Gojo in the first images, with cosplay, hair, makeup, and “sexy” outfits previously shown.
Fans can stream My Dress-Up Darling Season 1 on Crunchyroll, animated by CloverWorks, which recently revealed another gorgeous romance adaptation with the first trailer for The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, seen above. The My Dress-Up Darling anime is officially described as: “Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi – a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Despite his love for the craft, he is clueless about the latest trends and has trouble fitting in with his class. The popular kids – especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa – seem like they live in a completely different world. That all changes one day, when she shares an unexpected secret with him, and their completely different worlds collide.”
