Although he is only a secondary villain, Toji Fushiguro is one of the most popular characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is Megumi’s father and first appeared in Gojo’s Past arc. He was born with a heavenly-restricted body, which gave him tremendous strength and keen senses in exchange for cursed energy.
However, because the conservative Zenin Clan valued cursed techniques and energies more than anything, Toji was ostracized until he left the Clan and became a “Witch Assassin”. He died at Gojo’s hands after killing Riko Amanai.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is currently airing the Shibuya Incident arc, where Toji Fushiguro will once again join the battlefield. Here’s how he came back to life and what his role will be in the anime sequel.

How did Toji Fushiguro come back to life in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Toji was summoned by Mrs. Ogami in the Shibuya Incident arc. Ogami was a curse user who teamed up with Pseudo-Geto in hopes of being free to commit crimes after Gojo was sealed. Her innate technique allows her to transform herself or a willing participant into a dead person.
During the Shibuya Incident arc, she used her adopted nephew’s body to summon Toji Fushiguro. Ogami only summons information from the body, not the soul. This allows the shapeshifter to use the target’s physical abilities without resurrecting their personality.
However, she became a victim of her own technique when he summoned someone as strong as Toji Fushiguro. Toji soon regained consciousness and gained control of his body. After refusing to listen to Ogami’s orders, he explains that he has defeated her nephew’s spirit. Toji quickly killed the old woman and ran free in Shibuya.
What happened to Toji during the Shibuya incident?
Nanami, Megumi, Maki, and Naobito Zenin all fight against Dagon in his Domain Expansion. However, what surprised them the most was that Toji entered the space without any problems. Since the Sorcerer Killer does not possess any cursed techniques, his necromancer form has all physical abilities.
He easily destroyed the special level curse, Dagon, inside his own Domain. However, Toji then recognized Megumi and took him away from the scene. Megumi was so young when Toji left that he didn’t recognize his father.
The father-son duo briefly fight before the series reveals Toji’s real reason for selling Megumi to the Zenin Clan. Toji knew that since the Clan was in decline, they would value Megumi, the heir to their legendary innate technique. Toji, who couldn’t take care of such a child, sold it for a reasonable price.
As soon as Toji remembered the past, he asked Megumi’s name. The Sorcerer Killer is happy that Megumi doesn’t have the Zenin family name – meaning Gojo saved him from the Zenin Family. Toji stabbed himself in the head because he did not want to endanger Megumi’s life after losing control.
He died again without ever revealing his identity to his son. However, Toji’s second death gave him the biggest regret of his life. Before he died at Gojo’s hands, he put aside his pride and indirectly asked young Gojo to rescue Megumi from the Zenins.
