It was also revealed that Kagurabachi has surpassed 350,000 copies in circulation (including Volume 3) — an update from 200,000 copies for Volumes 1-2. Series author and artist Hokazono released a set of doodles on X, as you can see above, with the simple caption “Kagurabachi Volume 3!! Tomorrow!” Featuring characters Hiyuki Kagari, protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira, and Hakuri Sazanami, forming the phrase “Kagurabachi Volume 3 releases tomorrow!”
The success story of Kagurabachi was always going to start with the initial sarcastic reaction from manga fans, perhaps being considered another “grumpy” story even before its release. The manga is gaining wider acceptance with each announcement and clearly has the full faith of the Shonen Jump heads and veteran creators behind it. A recent Japanese chapter recounted a conversation with a Shueisha representative who said he wanted Kagurabachi to “carry the next generation of Jump.” The series has received one of the fastest English print release times ever for a Jump manga, with VIZ bringing Kagurabachi Volume 1 overseas this fall. Along with Kishimoto, My Hero Academia’s Kohei Horikoshi has also praised the series, saying, “Every week, I’m amazed by the compositions that are like watching a movie. He understands the meaning of cool.”

VIZ licensed Kagurabachi in North America, with Volume 1 scheduled for release on November 7, 2024. The series is described as follows: “Chihiro Rokuhira's father, Kunishige, was the most famous swordsmith in the country. Thanks to his six magical swords, the war that had gripped the country ended and days of peace came afterward. After the war, he retrieved all six swords and hid them in the basement of his workshop. However, magicians raided his home, stole the legendary swords, and left Kunishige to die before Chihiro. Now, Chihiro wields Kunishige's seventh and final magical sword in a quest for revenge and to retrieve the swords her father forged.”
“As a child, Chihiro was trained by her father every day to become a swordsmith. The two, despite their different personalities, spent endless peaceful days laughing and working, but one day, tragedy struck… Now, Chihiro burns with hatred and is determined to take revenge on those who killed her father!”
