Kodoani.com – Anime Kinoko Inuscheduled to premiere in fall 2024, held an advance screening of the first three episodes at the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater in Tokyo on September 8. The event was attended by the seven main voice actors and featured a second trailer along with information about the air date and opening theme song.
The anime will officially air in Japan on October 3. The opening theme song, “Kinoko Inu,” will be performed by Okinawan band HY and released on October 4.
Kinoko Inu is based on the fantasy manga series of the same name by Kimama Aoboshi, which was serialized in Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryu magazine from July 2010 to February 2022, with 15 tankobon volumes and over 1.75 million copies in print.
The anime revolves around the main character Hotaru Yuyami, a manga author who is grieving the loss of his pet dog Hanako. One day, he discovers a strange mushroom that looks like a dog, and his life begins to change when he raises this creature, calling it Kinoko Inu. The film depicts the happy days of Hotaru with his friends and Kinoko Inu, a mysterious but cute creature.
The anime is directed by Kagetoshi Asano at C-Station, with Jin Tanaka writing the scripts, Daisuke Endou designing the characters, and Akiyuki Tateyama providing the music.
