The R15+ rated film version of Kitarō Tanjō: Gegege no Nazo will be released in theaters in Japan on October 4.
Kodoani.com – Toei has just released a new trailer for the movie The 1st chapter: The 1st chapter of the (True Birth Version), a remake of the animated film The Secret of the False God: (The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe), on Wednesday. The trailer focuses on the relationship between A guitar and his father.
The new version of the film has approx. 327 replaysalong with some re-dubbed scenes, and is rated R15+. Previously, the original version of the film was only rated PG12The new version of the film will be released in theaters in Japan on October 4.
The original film was released in November 2023 and has already sold 111,500 tickets with revenue 160,106,620 of them (about 1.07 million USD) in the first three days. By the day January 28the film's total revenue reached 2,472,410,610 yen (about 16.79 million USD).
Gō Koga (Gegege no Kitarō: Nippon Bakuretsu!!, One Piece Episode of Sabo) is the director of the film at Toei Animationand Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, World Trigger, GeGeGe no Kitarō 2018) wrote the script. Toko Yatabe (third unit director of 2018's GeGeGe no Kitarō, assistant director of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time) is responsible for character design.
The film is part of four “major projects” to celebrate 100th Anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's Birthfamous author of the series GeGeGe no Kitarō. Mizuki passed away in 2015 at the age of 93. Another project in this series of commemorations is the anime Akuma Kunreleased on Netflix in November 2023.
Anime GeGeGe no Kitarō The latest version, which premiered in April 2018, is the sixth television series of the series and replaced Dragon Ball Super in the same time slot. The series concluded in March 2020 after 97 episodes.
