Summary
Blue Exorcist shares similarities with Naruto, with the protagonist being a demon within and struggling to fit in. Rin Okumura, the protagonist, fights to protect humanity and rejects assumptions about his demonic heritage. Both Naruto and Rin are the embodiment of hope and determination, striving to overcome their fates and protect their communities.
Naruto is considered one of the most popular and beloved shonen anime of all time, and for good reason. The story behind Naruto Uzumaki is fascinating, and the plot and themes of the series serve as a gateway for many people in the Western world to enter the world of anime. Naruto struggles to fit in with his village and is shunned by the villagers around him for reasons beyond his control, something that another shonen protagonist has to endure in a relatively underrated shonen anime.
If Naruto fans want to watch something similar to the hit shinobi series, or find something new that will give them the same amount of fun as Naruto, then they should check out Blue Devil A Chance. Blue Exorcist tells the story of Rin Okumura, a normal, troublemaking teenager until one day he is ambushed by a demon.
Rin, the protagonist of Blue Exorcist, discovers that he is the son of Satan and has Satan's powers within him. The people around him fear Satan, for obvious reasons, and do not want to associate with someone who is the actual son of that evil being.
The Story of Blue Exorcist
Original story written by Kazue Kato
Blue Exorcist was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump before moving to Jump Square in 2009 and began airing on TV in 2011. Currently, there are three seasons and a movie available as the fourth season is scheduled to be released in October 2024. The world of Blue Exorcist consists of two separate dimensions that are connected. Assiah is known as the physical world where humans live and Gehenna is known as the world of demons. Demons can pass through Assiah by possessing a living being and can wander to the other side undetected, Only visible to those who have had previous contact with demons.
Exorcists are trained to exorcise demons that are considered a threat to human livelihood in Assiah. The story revolves around Rin and his twin brother Yukio, known as the sons of Satan. The pair lost their human mother when they were infants and were raised by Shiro Fujimoto, an exorcist. Satan wants to use his son as a vessel so he can cross over to Assiah and take over the world. Following in his guardian's footsteps, Rin devotes himself to becoming an exorcist to protect the world from demons, rejecting his father's ideals.
Similarities Between Rin and Naruto
Both main characters have the same ideals.
Rin and Naruto are very similar characters, and it makes sense that Kato took inspiration from Naruto when creating Rin as a character. Neither of them grew up with their real parents or knew them. Like Naruto, Rin has a strong inner strength that makes everyone around him fear him and what he could become. They both want to be able to overcome the fate that has been placed on them and prove the assumptions made about them wrong.
Rin and Naruto are both characters who radiate hope and determination to survive in the worst of situations.
Both want to become stronger to achieve the goals they set for themselves. In Naruto's case, he wants to become Hokage so he can gain the respect of the village that has shunned him and be able to protect them. Rin wants to prove that he is not like his father and find a way to destroy the demons that plague the human world. He wants to keep everyone safe from the dangers that the demons can cause; Rin and Naruto are both characters who radiate hope and determination to survive in the worst of situations..
