The Darwin’s Game manga revolves around the story of Kaname Sudō, a high school student who is fascinated by a mysterious game app called “Darwin’s Game”. The guy participates in a social game with a bet of life or death.
Starting in December 2012, FLIPFLOPs launched the manga in Akita Shoten’s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine. As of June 8, volume 28 of the manga has been published. Shū Miyama (formerly known by her pen name Ginko) wrote the story, while Yuki Takahata handled the art. The series entered its final arc in January 2020 and reached its climax in January 2022.
The story of Darwin’s Game was adapted into a television anime, which premiered with an hour-long episode in January 2020.
At the same time, the FLIPFLOPs author has also created a prequel novel that will be published in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in January 2020. The novel focuses on the past of two characters Shuka and Rain. The novel finished with multiple volumes in August 2020. They are also planning to launch a spin-off manga themed around the character Rein Kashiwagi, also known as Rain.
