Godzilla can be considered a great symbol of Japanese cinema in particular and the world in general. Throughout his history of dominating the big screen, the King of Monsters has faced many different super monsters to assert his leading position, whether it is kaiju, or advanced giant robots, or even massive primates wanting to dominate their own island.
However, during his reign, Godzilla never clashed with Transformers – one of the most famous toy robot brands (and later movies) in Japan and the United States. And Godzilla standing in the same frame with Autobots or Decepticons has always been the most beautiful and magnificent dream of any fan of these two brands.
There are currently no official plans to combine the world of Cybertron with the MonsterVerse on the big screen. However, the toy industry has somewhat satisfied fans' wishes with a “dual dragon” product line between robots like Optimus Prime or Megatron with MechaGodzilla and Godzilla.
Specifically, this is a new product line, part of the Takara Tomy Synergenex Series campaign of Japanese toy company Tomy. Sharing about the combination of Transformers and MonsterVerse, the company said: “This is a collaboration between 2 of Japan's most famous global brands! To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Godzilla and the 40th anniversary of Transformers, we will launch 2 products: Megatron Type Godzilla – a scan of Godzilla; and Optimus Prime Type 3 Kiryu, a scan of MechaGodzilla. In animation and movies, Transformers are set to scan vehicles on Earth and transform into those vehicles.”
Godzilla x Transformers are extremely “hot” in the new toy line of Tomy company – Video: Tomy.
The Godzilla x Transformers figure will officially hit shelves in 2025 and will be available for pre-order this fall. For movie fans, they can meet the Transformers again in the animated film Transformers One (released September 20 in North America), which tells the story of Optimus and Megatron's childhood before they became enemies. In addition, Paramount is also nurturing a crossover project between Transformers and GI Joe, combining the Autobots and Decepticons with Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commader and Destroy.
Meanwhile, MonsterVerse fans will probably have to wait a little longer for the next monster movie projects. Currently, Warner Bros. is developing a third Godzilla x Kong movie, and Apple TV is also rushing to produce season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monster and many other MonsterVerse spin-off projects.
