Kodoani.com – Manga Romcom Komi Can’t Communicate (Comi-san wa Comyushō desu.) by Tomohito Oda will end in two more chapters, as announced in this year's Saturday issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. The series has entered its final act since July 24, 2024, marking nearly a decade since its debut.
Plot summary
Komi Can’t Communicate revolves around Tadano, a shy high school student who tends to keep to himself. Everything changes when he meets Komi, a popular classmate who has difficulty communicating with her due to her shyness. Realizing Komi's desire to make friends, Tadano is determined to help her reach her goal of making 100 friends, opening a humorous and touching journey about friendship and connection.
Anime and adaptations
The anime's first season aired on TV Tokyo in October 2021 and was streamed exclusively on Netflix in Japan at the same time. Netflix launched the anime globally two weeks later with new weekly episodes, dubbed in eight languages and subtitled in 31 additional languages. The second season of the anime premiered in April 2022 on TV Tokyo and Netflix. The series was also adapted into a live-action film, premiering in September 2021 on NHK's late-night television show Yorudora.

Tomohito Oda introduced for the first time Komi Can’t Communicate via a one-shot version in September 2015 before officially serializing in Weekly Shonen Sunday from May 2016. Shogakukan will release the manga's 37th compiled book volume on January 12, 2025. Meanwhile, Viz Media published volume 32 in English on January 9, 2025.
