“Super feature” of League of Legends is being remade
A few days ago, the new season of League of Legends was officially launched with version 25.1 bringing many big changes to the game. One of them is a “super feature” called Chains of Power that helps increase the strength of level 2 Shoes. Furthermore, when one side gets Chains of Power, the player will be able to use gold to upgrade to level 2 Shoes. 3 with extremely powerful stats and effects.
And as soon as this “super feature” appeared in League of Legends, it created a wave of fierce protest in the community. It is important to know that the condition itself to achieve this “super feature” (having 2/3 goals including the First Victory, the first tower, the first big goal) already has a very strong snowballing ability. Combined with the bonus stats from the Power Chain effect, the team that owns it can almost win easily.
Therefore, many opinions in the League of Legends community believe that this “super feature” needs to be edited or even redone to reduce the snowballing nature that is too strong in the game. “I think Chain of Power should be reworked to be a goal that both teams can achieve. Lock the reward of this feature so that only one team has it and the remaining players cannot upgrade it Level 3 shoes are causing it to snowball too much.
Even if a team without Chain of Power wins a few fights, they won't be able to come back because they don't have tier 3 Boots. So it would be fairer if this feature was reworked for both teams to achieve, e.g. based on the number of towers taken, the number of large targets owned, for example” – A gamer shared.
The League of Legends developer rushed to make corrections but “it's still too little”
Perhaps the League of Legends design team received feedback from players, so in the latest update, they made adjustments to the Power Chain. However, these changes simply reduce the stats for Tier 3 Boots items a bit, and some of the tweaks don't even make much sense. For example, the Magician's Shoes have the base magic penetration reduced from 19 to 10 and the percentage magic penetration reduced from 10% to 8%.
It's clear that the above edits are “too little” and don't solve the strong snowballing problem that Power Chain has. It is important to know that League of Legends itself in previous seasons had a very strong “snowball” feature (especially in ranked mode) thanks to the great influence of Junglers, champion design… Combined with With the “super feature” Chain of Power, the fact that a game of League of Legends is decided after just 15-20 minutes has become increasingly popular and has somewhat reduced the tactical nature of the game. Perhaps it's time for Riot Games to seriously reconsider the influence of Power Chain and rework it if necessary.
