Kodoani.com – At the Anime Expo stage event this past Friday, Aniplex announced that singer ReoNa will perform the opening theme song “GG” for the second season of the television anime “Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II.” During the event, they also revealed a new promotional video for the anime series.
The anime is scheduled to premiere in October. Tomori Kusunoki will reprise his role as the protagonist Llenn. Other cast members include Yōko Hikasa as Pitohui, Chinatsu Akasaki as Fukaziroh, and Kazuyuki Okitsu as M.
Masayuki Sakoi, who directed anime series such as “Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious,” “Matoi the Sacred Slayer,” and “Princess Resurrection,” will return to direct this season at A-1 Pictures. Studio 3Hz transferred animation production and planning rights to A-1 Pictures in June. Yōsuke Kuroda, known for works such as “My Hero Academia,” “Trigon,” “Gundam Build Fighters,” and “Mobile Suit Gundam 00,” will continue to serve as series script supervisor. Yoshio Kosakai, who designed the characters and served as chief animation director for “The Marginal Service” and “Nothing,” will return in the same role.
The story revolves around Karen Kohiruimaki, a 183 cm (6 ft) tall college student who is insecure about her height and has difficulty communicating with people in real life. In the virtual world of Gun Gale Online, she takes on the role of Llenn, a character who is less than 150 cm (5 ft) tall and always wears pink. Llenn meets Pitohui, a beautiful female gamer with brown skin. The two quickly become close, but Pitohui then forces Llenn to participate in “Squad Jam,” a team-based Battle Royale version of the Bullet of Bullets tournament.
Anime adapted from light novel series “Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online” by Keiichi Sigsawa, a spin-off of the light novel series “Sword Art Online” famous by Reki Kawahara. The first season of “Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online” It premiered in April 2018, lasting for 13 episodes. Aniplex of America streamed the series on Crunchyroll and Hulu, and later released it on Blu-ray in 2019.
