Twin Star Cyclone Runaway's Unique Plot
Twin Star Cyclone Runaway is set 6,000 years after humanity spread across the starsand takes place inside a giant city ship orbiting a distant gas planet. The story revolves around a civilization of space fishermen, who fish for valuable creatures called Besshu. Their society requires fishing vessels to be manned by a male-female pair, but the main character Terra found a special life partner again Diodea mysterious girl runs away. Both have the unique ability to steer the ship even though they are both women, challenging social norms that are dominated by men.
Release and Adaptation History
Twin Star Cyclone Runaway began as a short story, released in anthologies Flowers for Asterism belong to Hayakawa Shobo in June 2019. This version of the short story was nominated for 51st Seiun Award in 2020. Following the success of the short story, Ogawa expanded the story into a full-length novel, with the first volume released in March 2020.
Additionally, a manga adaptation of the novel was launched in the magazine Monthly Bushiroad in July 2023, due Ahiru Tanaka illustration. The first volume was released in June this year, and the second volume is expected to be released on December 6.
Other Works by Issui Ogawa
Author Issui Ogawa is known for other famous science fiction works such as The Lord of the Sands of Time and The Next Continent, both of which have been published. Viz Media released under the label Haikasoru. Ogawa also announced an anime adaptation of the novel Michibiki no Hoshi expected to be released in 2018, but to date this anime has not been released.
