Known for its epic violence and sense of despair, Fist of the North Star is an iconic and beloved franchise that is still held in high regard by anime fans. Now, it's getting a modern-day remake, with the reboot's latest visual introducing “dead” villains.
While it doesn't give much away, the newly released key visual for the Fist of the North Star remake perfectly sets the scene for what's to come. Showing only the iconic protagonist from the shoulders down from behind, it promises a dystopian hellscape filled with death, destruction, and explosive action. While there's still not much known about the upcoming chapter, it's already set to be light-hearted in tone.
Kenshiro appears prominently in the key visual of Fist of the North Star Reboot
While the key visual for the First of the North Star reboot doesn’t reveal much, what it does show is more than enough to get fans excited. A group of deadly bikers, all dressed in leather, spikes, and other post-apocalyptic fashion statements, can be seen swinging axes, determined to wreak havoc and bloodshed on anyone who gets in their way. Of course, the only man standing in their way is none other than series protagonist Kenshiro himself. Warner Bros. Japan, which will produce the new anime, has stated that it will use “the right cast and the latest video technology” to “faithfully recreate the charm of the original work.”
The Fist of the North Star remake was originally announced for 2023, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the violent classic. So far, nothing has been confirmed about the work, including when it will be released or how it will be released. However, it will feature an entirely new voice cast and staff. Originally created by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, Fist of the North Star is a landmark manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump that helped popularize the post-apocalyptic setting in manga and anime. Inspiring films like the Mad Max series, it has so far received two anime adaptations, as well as parodies and anime versions of side stories.
