JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is famous for changing up the type of story it tells with each new installment, and with each change, there's always a new type of villain for the heroes to face. Naturally, there will be some overlap in powers and personalities, but one can always expect the main villain in the new installment to be completely different from the one they just finished reading about.
JOJOLands is the latest installment of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and after more than a year of mystery, chapter #17 may have revealed the story's main antagonist, Acca Howler.
Howler has only appeared in one chapter so far, so not much is known about his character, but what little is shown makes it clear that JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is continuing its tradition of completely changing the way its villains act. This change fits in with the overall theme of The JOJOLands, which promises to be an interesting development surrounding Howler in future chapters.
Acca Howler rocks JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with flashy public persona and unique defeating strategy
Most JoJo villains tend to be reclusive, rarely interacting with others and keeping their true selves to themselves. However, in just one chapter, The JOJOLands has built Acca Howler into a flamboyant and expressive villain whose actions are very public, in stark contrast to how villains are typically portrayed.
Previous chapters have described HOWLER as a company notorious for illegal activities, so describing Acca Howler can be seen as a natural extension of that.
Acca Howler also differs from previous villains in that he is easy to deal with. In every other installment, villains can only be defeated by the heroes in a fight, but Howler can be defeated simply by bankrupting him without Jodio having to fight him.
That's not to say that a fight won't happen, as Howler has taken deadly measures to combat interference in his work, but it does show that Howler is far less invincible than villains like Dio or Diavolo.
Another interesting element about Acca Howler's character is how he continues to contrast The JOJOLands and Golden Wind by being an antagonist to Diavolo.
Not only does Howler's public persona contrast sharply with Diavolo's reclusive nature, but the revelation that Howler used lava rocks to become rich also contrasts sharply with Diavolo doing the same with his Stand Arrows. These and many other factors make Howler a great addition to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and it will be interesting to see what the series does with him.
