He shared that the stress has affected his health, including hair loss. Therefore, he decided to take a break from writing until his life stabilizes. Sugiura apologized to readers who are looking forward to new chapters of the manga, but said that he will continue to draw storyboards when he can and will return when he is in better health.
The manga series, published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, centers around Takuma, a man who lives alone and decides to buy a housekeeper robot named Mina-chan. Although it starts out as a joke with Takuma calling Mina his “wife,” their relationship develops as they spend more time together. Takuma begins to develop feelings for Mina, but the question is whether a relationship between a human and a robot can ever become a reality.
Sugiura launched My Wife Has No Emotion in Kadokawa's Comic Flapper magazine in 2019. The manga's eighth volume is scheduled to ship on September 21, while Seven Seas Entertainment will release the seventh volume on September 17.
The television anime adaptation of the manga has been airing since July 2 on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS Asahi.
