Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter #1125.
One piece finally revealed The true extent of Imu's terrifying power and a subtle detail hints that this may not be the first time the Gorosei have witnessed Imu's wrath. While it seemed like the Egghead Arc was over, the latest chapter surprised fans with a final twist that no one could have seen coming.
In chapter #1125 of One Piece, Saint Figarland Garling replaces Saint Saturn as the God of Science and Defense. Meanwhile, on Egghead, Saint Saturn begins to choke and cough as black smoke emanates from his withered body. Imu punishes Saturn for allowing Joyboy to escape and, despite Saturn's pleas for mercy, his life is quickly drained from his body until only his bones remain.
The death of Saint Saturn seems to confirm that the Five Elders' immortality, rebirth, and even demonic transformations all originate from Imu and can be taken away at any time if Imu so desires. This not only further supports the theory of the Five Elders being Imu's satellites, but also raises the question of whether one of the Five Elders has ever been replaced before, which is hinted at by Saint Ju Peter and Saint Saturn's strange reactions in the latest chapter.
One Piece Teaser Imu May Have Replaced The Previous Five Elders
Created by Eiichiro Oda, Chapter #1125, “What Does Death Mean”
With the World Government's complete failure against Egghead, both in capturing Nika and preventing the world from knowing about the Void Century, it was no surprise that Imu would be displeased, and Saint Saturn took the hit. That said, Saturn's death came as a surprise to fans, the former Elder himself immediately seemed to understand what was happening to him and quickly begged Imu for forgiveness.
As his body began to contract, Saturn thought to himself, “Am I…?” and although he didn't elaborate further, it was implied that He knows his immortality and powers are being taken away.. This implies that perhaps Saturn has witnessed a former member of the Five Elders being similarly stripped of his powers in the past.
Saint Paul may have replaced one of the five elders.
There may have been five different elders before Saint Shepherd Ju Peter.
Another interesting detail that supports this theory that Imu replaced the previous Five Elders is Saint Ju Peter's reaction when he saw Garling join the Five Elders. While the other Elders seemed unfazed, Ju Peter seemed very worried, maybe even a little scared, as evidenced by the shadow and sweat on his forehead.
One possible explanation for Ju Peter's strange reaction could be that he is the last Elder to replace someone like Garling, which could also explain Ju Peter's significantly younger appearance compared to the rest of the Five Elders. Ju Peter's frightened expression also suggests He knows exactly what happened to Saint Saturn. as soon as Garling reveals that he is the new God of Science and Defense, it is implied that he may have also witnessed the death of the previous Elder he replaced.

On the other hand, fans have previously speculated that Saint Ju Peter could be the traitor, as One piece seems to really like this pun. So maybe this is also part of the reason why Ju Peter reacted with fear in the latest chapter, although only time will tell if either theory is valid. Overall, Saturn's death finally answered many questions about the Five Elders' abilities and while there are still many mysteries to be solved, the Final Saga is slowly but surely giving fans all the answers they've been craving.
