Super Dragon Ball Heroes Meteor Mission! Manga Reaches Its Climax on October 4
Kodoani.com – The October issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine published the final chapters of two manga series: the late Akira Toriyama's SAND LAND and Yūji Kasai's Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!! on September 4. The magazine also announced that Yoshitaka Nagayama's Super Dragon Ball Heroes Meteor Mission! manga will culminate with a “final battle” arc in the next issue, which ships on October 4.
Toriyama's color manga SAND LAND debuted in Saikyō Jump in August 2023. SAND LAND, originally a short story, was serialized by Toriyama in Weekly Shonen Jump from May to August 2000, and was later published as a manga compilation. The manga also inspired an anime film that premiered in Japan in August 2023 and had its first international screening at Comic-Con International San Diego 2023. The film is scheduled to premiere in North America this year.
Besides, Sand Land: The Series premiered its first episodes on Disney+ Star and Hulu in the United States on March 20. The first six-episode arc, The Story of the Fiend Prince, was cut from the anime, while episodes 7 through 13 are a completely new arc, The Story of the Angel Hero, set in a new setting called Forest Land. Toriyama participated in conceptualizing the story of this arc. Additionally, an action role-playing game based on the manga was released on April 26.
Kasai's Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Avatars!! manga, which began serialization in August 2021, published its eighth volume on April 4. Nagayama's Super Dragon Ball Heroes Meteor Mission! manga debuted in Saikyō Jump in November 2023 and published its first volume on August 2. Both manga are inspired by Bandai Namco Entertainment's Super Dragon Ball Heroes card arcade game.
The late Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, passed away on March 1 due to acute epidural hematoma at the age of 68. His legacy continues with sequels and anime projects such as Dragon Ball Daima, which is set to premiere in Japan on October 11 on Fuji TV.
